Cigarkings began not from tradition, but from a university project. Founder Philipp Kugler, a communication designer with no prior industry ties, developed the brand identity for a fictitious label, which ignited a genuine passion for cigars.
He turned theory into practice, launching Cigarkings in 2016. The brand’s breakthrough came when he sold 800 cigars from his now-discontinued “Schöne Robusto” series in a single day at a Munich shop, convincing him to dedicate himself fully to the business.
True to his roots, Kugler ensures regional responsibility by sourcing the brand’s wooden packaging, including cigar boxes, from sustainably managed Bavarian forests.
The Cigarkings portfolio features a variety of cigars, including Sun Grown and Maduro lines, known for their use of complex H2000 tobacco and Ecuadorian wrappers. A deliberate choice to avoid Ligero tobacco in the filler of these core lines results in a uniquely balanced strength, reflecting the brand’s thoughtful approach to blending.
